Status of the BRi-LPS02EX-PN Prototype and Order Status at Jul. 2026
Update on the Development of the LPS-based Dual Power Supply BRi-LPS02EX-PN(D)
The LPS-based dual-voltage power supply (±5–20 V/1.5 A) currently under development, the BRi-LPS02EX-PN, has now reached the stage where a prototype board and a prototype unit (±18 V) – fitted with a 24 V transformer, a TE Corocom PS inlet and Neutrik XLR connectors – have been completed.

In the case of standard positive and negative power supplies, a single diode bridge and a centre-tapped transformer are used; the positive and negative sides of the full-wave rectification are each regulated by a positive voltage regulator and a negative voltage regulator, respectively, to set the voltages for the positive and negative sides before output. As smoothing capacitors—which are used in standard linear power supplies—are required for both the positive and negative sides, many products on the market feature a smoothing capacitance of approximately half that of a standard linear power supply. (This includes audio equipment with built-in linear power supplies.)

In the LPS02EX-PN (LPS-Differential Ver. 1.1 board), prioritising sound quality over cost, the first of the two output circuits—which utilises a toroidal transformer with a choke—is full-wave rectified using a positive-side SBD bridge, whilst the second channel is full-wave rectified using a negative-side SBD bridge. Each channel then employs a three-stage filter—comprising pre- and post-stage sections—with a smoothing capacitance exceeding 50,000 μF, equivalent to that of the LPS01.
As the positive and negative sides each incorporate the LPS01 configuration, the board size is larger and the number of capacitors required has increased.
High-speed linear regulators with excellent transient response are used for both the positive and negative sides; to accommodate the voltage upper limit of the positive-side regulator, the configuration incorporates an LM317/337 as a post-regulator.
(The post-regulator block is omitted for voltages up to 12V.)
The LPS series utilises components that have become standard in this range, including WIMA MKS2 and MKP2 capacitors, SMD diodes, Kyocera Schottky diodes, and Vishay MMB MELF metal-film resistors.

This unit is designed to facilitate the conversion to linear power supplies, including the modification of equipment incorporating built-in switching power supplies; at the same time, it will serve as the fundamental analogue power supply for the development of future equipment utilising digital and analogue power supplies.
Initially, we plan to remove the switching module power supply from the S.M.S.L SP400 and operate it by supplying ±18 V directly to the internal circuitry; however, due to the current order situation, analysis of the SP400’s power supply circuit has not yet progressed.
Moving forward, we will continue with the analysis and proceed with modifying the SP400 to enable power supply via an XLR cable, followed by evaluation.

(LKG Super Through – Customer-supplied)
Additional XLR connector
→ Case modification work and production of the LPS Ver. 3.11 circuit board are currently in progress
The three units in the LPS02 series have been ordered either as new purchases or as upgrades from the LPS01 by customers who are already loyal users of the LPS01 and LPS02 models.
Due to the current order situation described above, we are currently experiencing a delay of two to three weeks beyond our standard delivery time.
We would be grateful for your understanding.
Furthermore, whilst the LPS series is currently only available in the standard version, if you wish to purchase one and already own an LKG Super Through, we can create a Limited Edition for you if you send us your Super Through at your own expense.
In addition, the Gold Tune—which is the mid-range model (Type-II) in the LKG range—may still be available.
Please do get in touch if you would like a Limited Edition, even if it is this model.
